Raku Kichizaemon XV b.1949

Raku  Kichizaemon ,  born in Kyoto, has assumed the 15th headship of  the  Raku  family  since  1981.   After  studying sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts, he went to Italy for further study. He is known for    an   unprecedented    innovative  ,   avant-garde   style .   Raku Kichizaemon  Pavilion  (Sagawa Art Museum)  of his design opened in 2007 won various architectural prizes, where he exhibits annually. Exhibitions :  National  Museum  of  Modern  Art ,  Tokyo and Kyoto (2016),   Los  Angeles   County  Museum  of  Art  (2015),  Hermitage Museum ,  Saint  Petersburg (2015) ,  Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts ,  Moscow  (2015) ,  Palazzo  Fortuny ,  Venice   (2013 and 2011), International  Museum  of  Ceramics  in Faenza (1997), Maison de la Culture  du  Japon  à  Paris  (1997), Princessehof Ceramics Museum, Leeuwarden (1997)  and  the  Victoria  and  Albert Museum, London (1995).  Collections :  Victoria  and Albert Museum, London, Maison de  la  Culture  du  Japon à  Paris, National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and Kyoto, and Sagawa Art Museum.
