We are pleased to announce our participation in Art Collaboration Kyoto (ACK) 2026 in partnership with Annely Juda Fine Art, presented under the title The Non-Objective World.
The Non-Objective World references a series of exhibitions held at Annely Juda Fine Art, London from 1970. At a time when figuration dominated in Britain, these exhibitions championed non-representational art and brought together key abstract movements from 1914 onwards, including Russian Constructivism, the Bauhaus and De Stijl.
With the creation of Suprematism, Kazimir Malevich established a new vocabulary that replaced representation with abstraction as the primary visual language. László Moholy-Nagy rejected traditional objectivity and championed the idea that art was a tool for social and technological change.
In response, Mitochu Koeki seeks to explore, through several examples, the expressions of artists who moved toward abstract forms in the world of craft—forms that no longer serve a practical function.
Tomimoto Kenkichi emphasised the individuality of a studio potter, while Yagi Kazuo and others, through the formation of the Sodeisha group, stepped into the realm of pure art devoid of utilitarian purpose. Hans Coper pursued the essence of pure ‘form’ with uncompromising rigour.
This collaboration between Annely Juda Fine Art and Mitochu Koeki explores the trajectory of pioneering work in uncharted territory through the presentation of a group of artists.
